This interdisciplinary professorship within the field of social work combines sociological and cultural studies approaches with migration research in order to develop practice-oriented concepts for transnational and hybrid living environments. It addresses the professional challenges of migration and refugee issues at the local level while also analysing them from a global perspective.

The focus is on interaction, intervention and inclusion, with the aim of designing internationally compatible cooperation, research and teaching formats.

Your tasks

We are looking for a person with relevant expertise who can take on the following topics and tasks in teaching, research and transfer, also in English:

  1. Social work and inclusion programmes, taking into account socio-spatial, political, sociological, legal and psychosocial perspectives in the context of migration, flight, identity or diaspora communities
  2. Evaluation of aid and inclusion programmes for refugees, migrants and transnational families
  3. Interactions and innovative strategies for action between interculturality, cultural diversity and hybridisation, as well as multilingualism.

Your qualifications

In addition to the legal requirements for employment according to § 43 passage 1 points 1 to 3 and 4b of the Brandenburg University Act (Brandenburgisches Hochschulgesetz -BbgHG) you fulfil the following requirements:

  • a degree and several years of professional experience in a field relevant to the above tasks
  • special achievements in the generation or application of scientific knowledge on the above-mentioned topics, as evidenced by the acquisition of or participation in research projects, development and model projects, evaluation studies or publications,
  • relevant teaching experience in a university context, and
  • very good English skills
  • German skills
  • experience in the development, application and implementation of research and development projects in the applied sciences related to social work.

Beyond that, we would like you to

  • further develop our didactic principle of research-led teaching through specific research and transfer formats that are interlinked with teaching,
  • be open to developing digital teaching formats and English-language courses,
  • be interested in interdisciplinary teaching, research and transfer into practice,
  • be committed to raising the profile of our focus area ‘Social Space: Education, Participation, Community’,
  • further expand our regional and international cooperation in teaching, research and practice, and
  • bring passion and resilience to teaching, research, transfer, academic self-administration and inclusive departmental development.

Appointment as a civil servant is possible, provided you meet the requirements for civil servant status.

In addition to the usual application documents (CV, certificates and references, list of publications and projects, proof of professional and teaching experience, ideally with evaluation results), please submit two publications relevant to the professorship as well as a teaching and research concept that addresses the needs and structures of our degree programmes and research priorities, but also to your teaching and research focus and experience, by 10 April 2026 exclusively via our online application portal.
