As an architect or civil engineer, you will work in a team with two other colleagues appointed to related fields to strengthen a specialist focus on sustainable construction, which will be reflected in the further development of teaching in our relevant degree programmes and in research and transfer activities. As part of your qualifying professorship, which will confer the title of ‘professor’, you will have the opportunity to obtain the required qualifications for a professorship in accordance with § 49 of the Brandenburg Higher Education Act (BbgHG)
• either through a qualified doctorate (A, known as the ‘doctorate track’)
• or by acquiring special achievements in the application or development of scientific findings or methods in professional practice, half of which is carried out outside the higher education sector (B, known as the practice track),
with the option of subsequently taking up taking up a permanent professorship (W2) at our university.
In terms of content, the assistant professorship aims to enable you to conduct research and teach in the field of building construction and contribute to the development of innovative, resource-efficient and sustainable building designs. In this context, you will also deal with the special features of building renovation and explore the opportunities offered by the integration of BIM into the planning process. Your teaching load is 8 LVS (weekly teaching units).
After successfully completing your qualification and probationary period, you will be expected to take on independent responsibility for the above-mentioned subject areas at the current international and professional level as part of a regular full-time professorship.
Please note that you must decide which of the two tracks you wish to apply for.
You will hold a qualifying professorship as a salaried employee for a fixed term of four years. In the so-called doctorate track (A), you will be employed at the university on a full-time basis. In the so-called practice track (B), you will be employed part-time at half the level of a full professorship and will perform a suitable professional activity financed by third-party funds for the remaining half of your working hours.
If you achieve the qualification goal and have proven yourself as a university lecturer, we put in prospect you a tenure professorship with a W2 salary. The full fulfilment of the employment requirements for professors at universities of applied sciences in accordance with § 43 BbgHG and your proven track record as a university lecturer will be determined in a further appointment procedure in good time before the end of the fixed-term contract. Appointment as a civil servant is also possible in the course of the permanent appointment, provided you meet the requirements for civilservant status.
